The 2009 Juried Student and Alumni Outdoor Sculpture Exhibition and Florida's First Coast Arts Festival

The College of Fine Arts at The University of Florida is producing Florida's First Coast Arts Festival to be held in St. Augustine, Florida from May 18-24 2009. The festival will be a week full of engaging art including dance, theatre, music, and sculpture. The sculpture exhibition will be Juried by Amy Vigilante, Director of the University Galleries at UF. Five finalists will exhibit work on the grounds of the St. Augustine Amphitheatre.


Call for outdoor sculpture: Now accepting submissions for proposed or existing outdoor sculptures for temporary installation at the Florida’s First Coast Arts Festival (FFCAF). Five artists will be selected to exhibit and will be provided a $500 award to support the work. The event will be publicized regionally. Artist’s names will be included in the festival’s program.


Eligibility: Open to current students and alumni of The School of Art and Art History at The University of Florida. There is no entry fee for submission.


Installation: Sculptures will be temporarily installed on the grounds of the St. Augustine Amphitheatre. Artists are responsible for transport, installation, and prompt removal of the sculpture. FFCAF will provide professional lighting for night viewing. Event will not provide insurance for artworks. Artists may consider insuring works themselves.


Entry Guidelines:All entries must be submitted by email. Only jpeg images no larger than 800 x 800 pixels will be accepted. Applicant may submit up to 3 entries. Attachments must not exceed 5MB total. Download entry form and send to anthonycastronovo@gmail.com with the following files:


Existing work: Submit 3 images of each artwork up to 3 submissions.


Proposed work: Submit a digitally documented maquette. A computer rendering is also encouraged. Provide 3 images of representative work.


Additional requirements: Submit an artist’s statement that specifically addresses the conceptual stimulus of submitted the artwork.


Submit a logistical statement addressing issues of practicality, safety, construction, and appropriateness for a public, outdoor exhibition.


All files should be named with your last name and first initial. Examples: Doej1, Doej2, Doejstatement, Doejentry. Statement files must be saved as a word document. Entries that do not follow these guidelines may not be accepted. Send images, entry form, artist’s statement, and logistical statement to anthonycastronovo@gmail.com. Please include your name in the subject line. Attachments must not exceed 5MB total.
